In business since 1949, Norton Supply is one of the fastest growing coin laundry vendors in the country. Based in Providence, RI, and boasting 25 employees, Norton Supply, a member of the New England Fabricator Association (NEFA) services laundry mats, dry cleaners, institutional laundries, hospitals, and nursing homes around the country.

After years on a custom made solution, Norton Supply moved to Activant Prophet 21 and saw an almost immediate return on their investment. "One of the first things we did when we went live on Prophet 21 was access a profit report," recalls Bill Mark, CFO of Norton Supply. "In that report we noticed something that amounted to a $30,000 mistake on the part of one our vendors. That started us off on the right foot with Prophet 21."

Mark was looking for a solution that would enhance his processes and be easy to use. Prophet 21 addressed both of those needs. "I was looking for a solution that was Windows-based," says Mark. "When I came across Prophet 21, I was impressed by the sheer access of information that was easily and readily available to us. Along with the immediate access to information that Norton can now offer their customers, Mark has been particularly impressed with Prophet 21's ability to manage Norton Supply's inventory. "Prophet 21 has given us a better grasp of what we actually need," says Mark. "We've become more efficient with regard to our lead times with the products that we import and that has resulted in a higher gross profit. Prophet 21 helps us understand which products we need to order at what times. Our gross margins have increased by upwards of five percentage points. In addition, Prophet 21 helps us keep our products in stock. "Prophet 21 helps us make better business decisions quickly and efficiently. Being able to watch the inventory that closely is a tool we never had before."

Mark has been very happy with the way Prophet 21 has been able to help Norton Supply grow and expand their business in the short time that they have been on it and sees payback on their solution occurring very quickly: "Prophet 21 will certainly pay for itself within two years," he concludes.
